Success In The New Year - Going From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be
The final chapter of 2007 is almost ready to be put to bed. That means once again we'll sit back and judge what we've done, or not done, over the past 12 months. Unfortunately, that harsh, you're never good enough voice that lives inside our head will probably rule the day. And, as the year ends, we will be counting our failures rather than appreciating our victories.
This New Year's lets all toast to transforming that voice. Let's promise ourselves not to obsess on the woulda, coulda, shouldas and learn a new way of being. Let's start down the "all things are possible" road. Let's celebrate ourselves, and everything that we are capable of accomplishing in 2008.
Now, I'm not suggesting for a second that you consider making a New Years Resolution list. We've all been there done that and know firsthand it doesn't work. Resolutions are an exercise in futility. All they do is assure us that around February 1st we are going to feel like total losers because we haven't followed through on any of the promises we made.
For 2008 you have to ask yourself how can I stop the merry-go-round from spinning around and always leaving me off in exactly the same place. What do I have to make this year, the year I get from where I am now to where I want to go?
Here are some thoughts on how to make 2008 the best year ever. Remember Heinz started with just one pickle. You simply need the passion the plan and the vision.
- Come to terms with what you have done in the past. Nothing is an non-productive as regrets. You did the best you could with what you had to work with at the time. Stop punishing yourself.
- Let go of unattainable goals. If you always wanted to be a brain surgeon, but never went to medical school - forget about it. Focus instead on what is within your grasp right now. One thing I know for sure success builds confidence. Start small and keep building yourself a strong foundational for success.
- Challenge Your Fear of Failure. Hey, we're all afraid. What separates the have from the have nots is recognizing you're afraid but doing it anyway. Hasn't fear done enough damage already? Hasn't it stopped you dead in your tracks too many times to keep count. The only way to overcome fear is jump into the pool. Another thing I know for sure, is when you adopt the "do it anyway philosophy" the fear does start to go away. Don't waste another year letting fear have it's way with you.
- Make a Plan. It's a lot easier to start down any road when you have an idea of where you want to go. Nothing is set in stone but it's easier to see a logical conclusion when the template is right in front of you. Don't take on too much at once. Overwhelm will only scare you. Take small bites.
- Share Your Vision. Don't keep what you are doing a secret. Always share your excitement and enthusiasm. You never know when you are going to attract someone who wants to help you with whatever you are doing.
- Live like everything you want has already arrived. This is the most important ingredient for success. Don't waste another day feeling bad when you have the ability to feel as good as you want. The more good days you have - the more good days you assure yourself of having. Remember the Law of Attraction.
It doesn't matter whether you dream is better health, more loving relationships, a new career, a fatter bank account or reconnection to your spirit, these High-Yield Living tips will get you moving in the right direction.

As a Motivational speaker I agree with everything you mentioned in this wonderful blog, what a great way to start the New Year. I might only add that this is the year especially for cougars, to get right with the man in the mirror. Really embrace yourself and find out what makes you tick and except nothing less in your life. You deserve to live your life by design, not be mishaps. I encourage each one of you to dedicate some me time to yourself on a daily basis and let nothing interfere with that time. I call it meditation time. But it's a great opportunity to reflect and solve underlying problems or concerns. What ever you do set goals and make 2008 the best year ever. Let go of 2007 don’t look back and act, as if today is the first day of the rest of your life. Happy New Year Cougars, Go get em!!!!
