Amy Grant Is A Fine Example Of A Real Cougar

I just happened to catch Amy Grant being interviewed about her new book Mosaic.  During that interview I heard her talk about women's identity.  That's what this blog is all about. But first I just want to would say that Amy Grant is a fine example of a Real Cougar woman.  She is smart, successful, beautiful, sexy, and is certainly enjoying the life she created for herself. Rock on Amy!

Ok here's what Amy said. (These are not her exact words,but it's the importance of the message that counts).  Women go through their whole lives trying to figure things out, especially about who they are and what makes them unique.  Then, one day you finally get it.  But, by that time you are old, grey and wrinkled and nobody cares about what you have to say. Nobody's listening.

This is a subject that is very near and dear to my heart. Each and every women needs to have a voice.  Each one of us has to have an identity that she is proud of. It's important not to parrot what other people believe, it's important to express and live by what you believe.  Without that, life is empty. You go through the motions but you don't feel the passion. Life is meant to be juicy and delicious, and you are the only one that can make that happen.

 

From the time we are girls we are told what it means to be a woman.   We are taught good girls should be seen and not heard.  We are taught that it's our job to be wives and mothers. We are taught to believe we need someone to take care of us, when we are more than capable of taking care of ourselves. We just don't know it. Women seem to live their lives trying to please others, and there's a big price to pay for that behavior. Life really begins when we start to ask "what pleases me"?

It all goes by so fast. One minute you are 25, and before you know it, you're 50. So, no matter how old you are, it's time to wakeup. You don't have to wait until you are old, grey and wrinkled to become conscious and deliberate in your actions.  It's time now!  What in the world are you waiting for? What can you do to make yourself happy today?

Yes, I know change is hard.  I know it's much easier to come up with 92 reasons why you can't.  But those 92 reasons are keeping you stuck in a place you really don't want to be.

When you are contemplating change in any part of your life,you need support.  Especially the support of other women.  Women who are going through or have gone the same process.  These women may only have 29 reasons, or 18 reasons that are holding them back.  The point is we are all at different stages of our development, so we can help each other get through the maze.  Lots of women working together to realize their fullest potential and also help you realize yours.

That's what I'm creating right now.  A place for lots of women to network with one another. A place we can form friendships. A place where we can help each other and have fun.  I'm calling this network the "Real Cougar Club".  A Real Cougar is a women who is either married or is single, it's not about the band on her finger, it's about her attitude.  She is confident, smart,sexy, she takes care of her health, beauty, finances and most importantly, her spirit.  She's a woman we all can inspire to be.  Imagine how powerful we'll be, if we all work together sharing our knowledge.
