Boomers Spending Billions to Age Naturally

In a new report "The Realities About Aging Naturally", Focalyst a leading source of information on baby boomers found that 33 million boomer consumers will give nature a helping hand  by purchasing anti-aging products in the next 12 months.  That translates to over $4 billion dollars being spent.Another_fiftish_couple

"We are seeing a true dichotomy between attitudes and behaviors around appearance and aging", according to Heather Stern, Director of Marketing at Focalyst. She believes boomers see anything that is non-surgical or invasive as still being natural.

I believe the motivating force behind looking and feeling good is our ego.  Nothing feels better than looking in the mirror and thinking 'pretty damned terrific'. It's all about feeling you've still got what it takes to turn heads. You've still got what it takes to be somebody's fantasy. You've still got what it takes to be valuable. vital and productive.  One thing baby boomers have in common is they don't want to grow old like the generations that proceeded them.  That scares us. We've watched our parents age and we want to do it better.  That takes discipline, dedication and a belief that "aging is inevitable - how I age is always my choice".

I don't like the term anti-aging.  Like the folks at Dove, I prefer pro-aging, and this is how I define it.  Staying, healthy, vibrant, beautiful, productive and sexy.  And yes, it's sad but true, but all the lotions, gels, creams, and non-surgical procedures on the planet can't do their job if you are not doing yours. I'm not going to preach about eating healthy and exercise, you've heard it all before.  You're smart, you know the proper way to take care of your body.  You just have to do it!

It all comes down to this - take care of yourself in all ways - mind, body and spirit.  Health, beauty and sensuality start on the inside and radiate outward.  You know when you're happy, you have a certain glow that people notice.  All the lotions, gels, botox and fillers can't produce that.  It's an inside job.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all in favor of looking as good as you possibly can.  Vanity is okay. I love to see women at 80 or 90 dressing up, having their hair done and using makeup.  Why not?  We'll always be women and we'll always want to look good.  That's why I''m writing a beauty booklet that reveals some wonderful secrets for looking fantastic over 50.  It will be part of the "Real Cougar" trilogy.  Identifying the "Real Cougar", Unleashing the " Real Cougar" and now Beauty Secrets of the "Real Cougar".  Remember a "Real Cougar" is any women who is confident, accomplished, happy and turned on by life.

I'd heard 'anti-aging' stuff was big, but I had no idea how big.
